Spin attracts one of the more diverse clienteles on the Halsted bar strip—lesbians, gay men (mostly younger), and straight friends all intermingle in a neighborhood night club.
The space is divided into two separate sections: a front bar, brightly colored, martini posters hung next to video screens, disco balls centered with incredibly creative ceiling adornments, two pool tables on an upper deck; a darker back room holds a bar, sofas and lounge as well as illuminating and thumping dance floor.
Most nights have a special theme including Absolutely Fabulous Mondays, Queer As Folk Sundays, "What the Fuck Wednesdays," and "New Wave 80's Thursdays." VJ's tend to play modern pop and even some hip-hop videos on ten video screens (one giant one), while the back dance floor focuses on mainstream dance fare. Busiest nights include dollar drink night on Wednesday as well as the sultry shower contests on Friday—contestants from the crowd strip down and jump in the shower with nothing but a towel covering their privates. So much a staple of Spin, every year the bar sponsors a shower contest float for the Pride Parade.

Soin was the first club/bar I went to after I came out. It was pretty good. Friendly staff, great music (hip hop night), and cold drinks. It was a bit cramped and the lines for the bathrooms were a bit long, but the downsides are DEFINATELY worth taking for the Ups.

Went last Sunday to watch The L Word and found out the dancefloor is open in back. The music was ON POINT and it's the only place that knows to burn incense. Props to Spin for opening its doors to diversifying if you know what I mean.

Music is always hot and on time, they don't give you a lot of the played out deborah cox songs ...very nice mix of video's too.

mm from aurora....Spin is one of my first and favorite bar/clubs in the boystown area.The bartenders are friendly and I've never had a bad drink.A little small but well worth it.Also they have the best drink prices in Boystown.
